Lathrop GPM LLP Intellectual Property Group Expands in Boston and Minneapolis
The firm’s Boston office adds a partner, counsel and tech specialist.
BOSTON (April 18, 2023) — Lathrop GPM LLP is pleased to announce four new additions to the firm’s Intellectual Property Practice Group in its Boston and Minneapolis offices. Partner Lisa Hillman, Ph.D., Counsel Jennifer Liu, Pharm.D., and Technical Specialist Diane Lebo, Ph.D., all join the firm’s Boston office. Counsel Lisbeth C. Robinson, Ph.D., joins the firm’s Minneapolis office.
Lisa Hillman, Ph.D., joins the firm as a partner in Boston. Her practice encompasses domestic and foreign patent procurement in the areas of biotechnology and medical devices. She also provides strategic patent counseling including patent portfolio management, patent validity opinions, infringement opinions, freedom-to-operate opinions, and due diligence reviews. Hillman earned her J.D. from the University of Florida College of Law, her Ph.D. in Food Science and Human Nutrition with an emphasis in Molecular Biology and Food Microbiology from the University of Florida, and her B.S. in Microbiology & Public Health and Cellular Biology from the University of Wisconsin, Oshkosh.
Jennifer Liu, Pharm.D., joins the firm as counsel in Boston. Her practice includes patent litigation and patent opinion work involving mRNA vaccines, cancer drugs, antidepressants, and biologics. She has litigated patent matters involving a variety of technologies including pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, and medical devices. She earned her J.D. from Fordham University School of Law, which she attended in the evenings while working as a pharmacist. In addition to her J.D., she earned her Pharm.D. from the Arnold and Marie Schwartz College of Pharmacy, as well as an M.S. and a B.S. in Cell and Molecular Biology from Tulane University.
Diane Lebo, Ph.D., joins the firm as a technical specialist in Boston. She has a background in chemistry education and cell and molecular biology research. Lebo earned her Ph.D. in Cell and Molecular Biology from Boston University and her B.S. in Biology Education and Chemistry from Montclair State University.
Monica Grewal Named President-Elect of the PTAB Bar Association
March 14, 2023 — Partner Monica Grewal was unanimously elected President-Elect of the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB) Bar Association. Grewal, who co-chairs WilmerHale’s Post-Grant Proceedings Group, currently serves as Vice President of the association.
The PTAB Bar Association aims to promote the highest professional and ethical standards among those who appear before the PTAB, and to coordinate continuing legal education, pro bono opportunities, career enhancement and scholarship activities for practitioners. Grewal, who is consistently recognized among the nation’s top intellectual property lawyers, has held several leadership positions on the association’s board since its inception in 2016. As President-Elect, she will assist in advancing the association’s mission and implementing its policies, procedures and programs. At the conclusion of her one-year term, Grewal will be elected president of the association.
