SPRING 2025 NEWSLETTER
Volume 56, Issue 2
Message from the Editor
Dear Colleagues,
Welcome to the Spring 2025 Edition of the BIPLA Newsletter.
The BIPLA had an exciting spring program headlined by our 5th annual symposium. Our spring program had a strong focus on international practice, including a brown-bag event sponsored by the In-House Practice Committee on international patent prosecution and a panel discussion including a Technically Qualified Judge at the Unified Patent Court. The BIPLA also sponsored the regional round of the AIPLA Moot Court Competition.
This issue of the newsletter includes an article from the UK firm of Potter Clarkson on changes in European Patent Litigation as a result of the UPC. In addition, we are delighted to publish one of the winning essays from the 2024 writing contest, examining the impact of the recent expiration of copyright terms connected with well-known fictional characters.
I would like to thank BIPLA’s Events and Communications Manager Spencer Jawitz and the staff at READZ for their help in compiling and publishing this issue of the Newsletter. The deadline for submissions for the summer issue will be mid-late August. In addition to contributions from the BIPLA community, it will also include a recap of the Celebration of the Judiciary coming up on June 26. More details of this program are available on our website at bipla.org.
