WINTER 2023 NEWSLETTER
Volume 54, Issue 1
Message from the Editor
Dear esteemed colleagues,
Welcome to the Winter 2023 Edition of the BIPLA Newsletter. Although the BPLA Newsletter has been a longstanding tradition, which many may remember back to its paper mailing days, I am excited to announce this first issue of our newsletter as the Boston Intellectual Property Law Association! At the 2022 Annual Meeting the organization voted resoundingly in favor of changing our name and we are thrilled to move forward as the BIPLA.
Our first newsletter of 2023 offers insights across a variety of topics in multiple areas of IP, including top TTAB decisions of 2022, AI and the life sciences, patent term extensions in Europe, and claim support in New Zealand. From the BIPLA subcommittees, the Patent Office Practice Committee discusses the organization’s recent submissions in response to USPTO requests for comments. We also congratulate our 2022 Writing Competition winners, Andrea McCollum (First Place) and Brittany Reeves (Second Place), both J.D. Candidates at University of New Hampshire Franklin Pierce School of Law.
I would like to thank my Associate Editor, Elora Borkowski, the BIPLA’s excellent administrator, Constance Brennan, and the staff of Readz for their help in preparing this newsletter. If you have suggestions, requests, or submissions for a future issue, please feel free to reach out to us at newsletter@bipla.org.
