Dear Colleagues,
Welcome to the Autumn 2025 Edition of the BIPLA Newsletter.
The BIPLA had a busy summer program including a pair of programs from the International & Foreign Practice Committee on European Supplementary Protection Certificates and the Unified Patent Court. Our annual PCT seminar was an in-person event featuring a delegation from WIPO. The In-House Committee also continued their series of after hours meetups with an event on October 8 at Area Four in Cambridge.
This issue of the newsletter includes an article from the UK firm of Mewburn Ellis LLP on the quantum computing inventions before the EPO, USPTO, and elsewhere. We are looking forward to the upcoming Annual Meeting and election of officers.
I would like to thank BIPLA’s Events and Communications Manager Spencer Jawitz and the staff at READZ for their help in compiling and publishing this issue of the Newsletter. As I publish my last issue of the newsletter as editor, I would also like to thank everyone who contributed content this year. The deadline for submissions for the Winter issue will be early-mid February. In addition to contributions from the BIPLA community, it will also include a report from our Annual Meeting and the winning papers from the 2025 Writing Contest.
