Keith Toms
President
Boston Patent Law Association
One Batterymarch Park, Suite 101
Quincy, MA 02169
Dear President Toms,
We, the undersigned Past-Presidents of the Boston Patent Law Association, write to express our support for the proposed By-Law amendment to change the name of the association to the Boston Intellectual Property Law Association or BIPLA.
We believe that changing our name to the Boston Intellectual Property Law Association is an important step in furthering our mission. Our Association has long embraced all forms of intellectual property, so it is in our best interest to have a name that reflects the scope of our mission and is inclusive of all who practice in the field of intellectual property law.
We also believe that the BIPLA name will help extend the influence of our Association in shaping law and policy for trademark, copyright, trade secret, and other intellectual property matters. When engaging with lawmakers, regulators, and courts, it is to our benefit to have a name that clearly indicates our Association’s knowledge and expertise in all forms of intellectual property law.
Sincerely,
David Conlin (1981-1982)
