Update from the USPTO Patent Pro Bono Team

The USPTO is thrilled to announce that the Washington State/TILE Patent Pro Bono Hub (“Hub”), administered by the Seattle University School of Law, is now assisting inventors in the state of Washington.  The Hub matches qualified inventors with experienced patent attorneys.  Patent attorneys provide free legal services, including preparing and filing provisional and non-provisional patent applications.  The Hub began accepting applications from inventors on September 1, 2024, and is seeking additional volunteer attorneys to join the program. Please note that the Patent Pro Bono Program is always looking for patent practitioners willing to help financially under-resourced inventors and small businesses file and prosecute patent applications.  Each regional program participating in the Patent Pro Bono Program screens inventor and small business applicants using criteria that include: (1) household income; (2) knowledge of the patent system; and (3) possession of an actual invention (not merely an idea) to ensure they are a good candidate and ready for assistance. To volunteer, patent practitioners should contact the regional patent pro bono program for their state, as listed on the map available at: http://www.uspto.gov/probonopatents.  The regional patent pro bono program for your state may be found at: http://artsandbusinesscouncil.org/patent-pro-bono-program/.
