On October 11, a lively group braved an incoming nor’easter to attend a roundtable discussion on staff structure. Organized by the
In-House Committee
, we contrasted structures in which attorneys sit within specific business units to those in which a central IP group supports a whole company. The conversation extended to trademark and contract management, in-house counsel access to outside counsel docketing systems, and the risks and advantages of fixed fee billing models. Many thanks to WilmerHale for providing a venue and pastries.
