Retirement of Judge Bowler and Opening for Appointment of New Magistrate Judge
Magistrate Judge Marianne B. Bowler of the US District Court, District of Massachusetts has announced her retirement for May 6, 2022. Judge Bowler has served the US District Court, District of Massachusetts, since May 7, 1990. She also served as a former Chief Magistrate Judge. Prior to joining the court, Judge Bowler was an Assistant United States Attorney. She also previously served as a prosecutor for Middlesex County and the Massachusetts District Courts. We thank Judge Bowler for her long career and for her service to the community.
The Judicial Conference of the United States has also authorized the appointment of a full-time United States Magistrate Judge for the District of Massachusetts, serving in the Eastern Division, with a duty station in the John Joseph Moakley United States Courthouse in Boston, MA, commencing upon the retirement of Magistrate Judge Bowler. Applications must be received before 5:00 PM on December 3, 2021 to be considered. Please read this notice for information about this position and details regarding the application process.
